Helping Providers Meet Behavioral Health Needs

Your partner for behavioral health

PRISM partners with health systems and clinics, providing individualized consultation and training to implement the psychiatric Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) in their practices.

One in five people will experience a mental health issue this year and many communities have a shortage of specialized providers. CoCM is a cost-effective strategy to meet the growing need for behavioral health care services.

The Collaborative Care Model

The Collaborative Care Model helps health systems meet their patients’ behavioral health needs without leaving their medical home.

CoCM adds two new members to the treatment team—a behavioral health care manager (BHCM) and a psychiatric consultant—using each of their unique strengths to optimize patient care.

A great investment

Collaborative Care isn’t just a great model of care—it’s a great investment, too. Health systems that implement CoCM see a 6:1 return on their investment. Cost savings are gained across the emergency department, specialty mental health, medical and surgical services, as well as in pharmaceutical, inpatient and outpatient costs.

Proactively addressing behavioral health concerns benefits patients’ overall wellbeing, reducing the chance of downstream costs. In short, CoCM is valuable for patients and a valuable opportunity to reduce health care expenditures.
